US politicians criticize Trump’s statements on war in Ukraine

Trump officially becomes a presidential candidate and introduces his vice presidential candidate

Following US President Donald Trump’s statement that it was allegedly Ukraine that started the war and that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a “dictator without elections,” American politicians have issued several statements.

The leader of the Democratic Party in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, called Trump’s comments accusing Ukraine of war “disgusting.” Instead of recognizing the full-scale war started by Russia, Trump “amazingly blamed Ukraine for Putin’s invasion.”

“It’s disgusting to see the American president turn his back on one of our friends and openly side with a thug like Vladimir Putin,” Schumer said.

Trump’s former vice president, Mike Pence, addressed him with the words, “Ukraine did not start this war. Russia launched an unprovoked and brutal invasion, taking hundreds of thousands of lives. The path to peace must be built on the truth.”

Republican Congressman Mike Lawler wrote that Putin is a vile dictator and a thug, “he is not our friend or ally.” The politician is convinced that the United States must fight back against the alliance of Russia, China, and Iran, “which has caused death and destruction around the world.”

Democratic Senator Adam Schiff said that “not since Czechoslovakia has a democratic state has been so betrayed by a Western power.” He added that Trump’s appeasement of the Russian dictator will be remembered.
