Google’s Cybersecurity Seminars program has named 20 universities that will receive support from the company to expand access to cybersecurity education, according to the Google Ukraine blog.
The program has been expanded to higher education institutions in the Middle East and Africa, in addition to European universities. Two Ukrainian universities — Drohobych State Pedagogical University and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv — will receive support from Google.
The participating universities will provide thousands of students with the opportunity to gain practical experience through internships, mentoring from cybersecurity professionals, and hackathons.
Virtual Routes, a nonprofit organization specializing in the latest technologies and policies, will help universities adapt programs and curricula to meet the cybersecurity needs of their regions.
The program is expected to protect over 3,500 local organizations in different countries from cyberattacks. Through a partnership with Possible Digital, a leading European GovTech company, the universities will also receive Titan security keys and free cybersecurity training.
