Ukrainian filmmaker and former political prisoner Oleg Sentsov met with Czech President Petr Pavel in Karlovy Vary. After the meeting, the Czech president issued a statement to the press expressing his support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
Petr Pavel emphasized Sentsov’s gratitude for the Czech Republic’s initiatives to purchase and supply ammunition from non-EU countries, which was an essential assistance to the Ukrainian armed forces. They also discussed Sentsov’s new film Real, which realistically depicts the war in Ukraine and has a strong emotional impact on viewers.
Real was filmed with a tactical camera on the director’s helmet, which creates the effect of presence. The film premiered on June 30 at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
