The Ukrainian documentary “Blue Sweater with a Yellow Hole” has been included in the list of projects to receive support from the World Cinema Fund (WCF).
30,000 euros will be allocated for the production of the film.
The film will tell about the breakdown of children’s lives and totalitarian propaganda in real time. Through animated scenes and the voices of children who went through Russian “re-education camps”, it will immerse the viewer in the complex process of losing their identity.
The film’s characters include 10-year-old Kira, 14-year-old Taisa, and 15-year-old Artem. Together with other children, they will share their drawings and memories about manipulation, isolation, punitive discipline, and military drill. The viewer will see how what at first glance looks like a camp pastime turns into a deep drama of a traumatized childhood.
The film is directed by Tetyana Khodakivska and produced by Olena Saulich. Pronto Film is in charge of production.
