Anastasia Glushko from Kharkiv became the champion, said Leonid Broitman, vice-president of the National Draughts Federation of Ukraine. For five days, draughts players from Barbados, the Netherlands, Italy, and Ukraine fought for the title.
Our country was represented by three athletes – Nadiya Chizhevska, Tetyana Zaitseva, and Anastasia Glushko. For Anastasia, this is the first world “gold”, while Chizhevska and Zaitseva already had championship titles.
Glushko managed to score 21 points in seven rounds. She defeated most of her rivals and drew with the medalists.
Chizhevska finished second (18 points). Zaitseva took fourth place. With 17 points, she lost to the “bronze” representative of Barbados, Vinell Neverson.
