Construction of Ukraine’s largest potato processing plant has begun in the Biosense industrial park in the Cherkasy region. The project will allow the country to completely abandon the import of potato flour and subsequently establish its own production of French fries.
The first stage of the plant, worth UAH 960 million, is planned to be launched in late 2026 or early 2027. It will specialize in producing potato flour.
Currently, Ukraine imports 100% of this product for the food industry. Still, the new enterprise will allow it to fully satisfy domestic needs and later enter the export market.
In 2027, construction of the next stages is planned to start, focused on the production of French fries. Another UAH 5.5 billion will be invested in this.
The plant will help replace imported products that international fast food chains like McDonald’s and KFC are currently forced to purchase due to the lack of local production.
