Ukraine is among the top 10 countries in terms of the share of new electric vehicles on the market

Based on the data provided by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association ACEA, analysts of the Institute for Automotive Research, with the support of IBRM Samar, have compiled a rating showing the shares of new passenger electric vehicles (BEVs) in the markets of individual European countries in January 2024.

Norway remains the undisputed leader in the share of electric cars among new passenger cars sold, where last month, electric vehicles accounted for 92.1% of registrations. Iceland is in second place with a share of 37.0%. Closes the “three” Denmark with an indicator of 35.3%.

The result of Ukraine is 19.7%, and in quantitative terms, 894 first registrations of electric cars. And this is 9th place on the list of 32 countries!

Number of electric cars sold by country, January 2024:

  • Norway – 4,717 units, 92.1%.
  • Iceland – 169 units, 37.0%.
  • Denmark – 3,126 units, 35.3%.
  • Sweden – 4,936 units, 28.8%.
  • Netherlands – 8,713 units, 25.3%.
  • Finland – 1,587 units, 24.1%.
  • Luxembourg – 779 units, 21.5%.
  • Belgium – 9,995 units, 21.4%.
  • Ukraine – 894 units, 19.7%.
  • Malta – 74 units, 17.1%.

In the first month of 2024, 1,015,381 new passenger cars were registered in Europe, 11.5% more than in the previous year. Of these, 11.9% were electric vehicles, which amounted to 120,926 units; the increase was 29.3%.
