Two Ukrainian films were awarded at the 66th Krakow International Film Festival. The short film “Easter Day” and the documentary “Silent Flood” won.
It is noted that the award for the best European film in the short film category was presented to the film “Easter Day” by director Mykola Zaseev.
This film tells the story of what happens on Easter Sunday in Kyiv. Two men from the territorial recruitment center are slowly driving through the streets. They look closely at the men who may be called up for service, and their path crosses with a young man who left his own home to get cat food.
The Silver Horn Award for director of a film of “high artistic value” was presented to Dmitry Sukholitky-Sobchuk for his film “Silent Flood”.
The film highlights the story of a pacifist religious community on the Dniester River, living on land that was once the front line of two world wars. Their peaceful life, filled with children’s laughter, is regularly interrupted by floods and a new war.
