The Ukrainian women’s chess team became the vice-champion of the European Team Championship, which was held in Batumi (Georgia). Ukraine was represented by five athletes: Yulia Osmak, Anna Ushenina, Inna Gaponenko, Natalia Zhukova, and Bozhena Piddubna.
The Ukrainians finished four of the nine rounds in a draw, won the other five, and ultimately took second place (14 points).
The champions were the representatives of Poland (16), and the third position was taken by Germany (13).
