The Powerful Passports ranking identifies countries that guarantee their citizens greater freedom of movement. It considers how many countries passport holders can visit without a visa or with special permits.
In June, the Italian passport topped this rating among EU countries. In the world, it is only surpassed by the Singaporean passport. This is evidenced by the VisaGuide passport index.
The Italian passport has been recognized as the most powerful passport in Europe and the second most powerful in the world. It opens the doors of many countries to Italian citizens. Thus, Italians can enter 107 countries without visas and 44 without passports.
According to the VisaGuide Passport Index, the Italian passport has been the strongest EU passport for the third month. In the world, it is overtaken only by Singapore’s passport.
Spain and France’s passports are ranked third and fourth in the ranking of the strongest passports, allowing citizens to enter 106 and 104 countries, respectively. Citizens of both countries have visa requirements for 17 countries. In contrast, Spanish and French passports have a passport score of 90.48 and 90.45, respectively.
The top ten also include:

- Austria;
- Ireland;
- Netherlands;
- Belgium;
- Switzerland.
In general, EU passport holders can enjoy free movement worldwide, as their passports are among the top 20 countries with the strongest passports in the world.
Singapore’s passport has been recognized as the strongest in the world for the 4th month. The mobility that the Singapore passport offers its citizens has allowed the country to stand out among hundreds of other countries by being ranked as the world’s strongest passport for four consecutive months – March, April, May, and June.
Singapore passport holders have visa-free entry to 159 countries, including the Schengen countries, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
27 countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, require Singapore citizens to obtain a VOA for entry. The list of countries with visa requirements for Singapore citizens includes 19 countries, including Afghanistan, Chad, North Korea, Iraq, and Syria.
