The American Film Academy has invited five Ukrainians to join its membership

Ukrainian Film Academy announces shortlist of Oscar nominees

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has announced a list of new filmmakers invited to join the organization. This year, five Ukrainian film producers have been included in the prestigious list.

The new members of the American Film Academy include:

  • Oleg Kokhan, founder of the film company SOTA Cinema Group, known for his collaboration with such directors as Kira Muratova, Krzysztof Zanussi, and Myroslav Slaboshpytsky;
  • Olga Bergman and Natalia Libet, co-founders of 2Brave Productions, who worked on the creation of the films “Stop-Earth” and “Timeline”;
  • Igor Savychenko, producer of the films “When Trees Fall,” “Independence Day,” and “Brothers. The Last Confession”;
    Volodymyr Yatsenko, producer of the famous Ukrainian films “You Are the Cosmos,” “My Thoughts Are Quiet,” and “The Reflection.”

In addition to Ukrainian producers, invitations were received from foreign experts who worked on covering the war in Ukraine. Among them are American documentarian Michelle Mizner (who worked on the Oscar-winning film “20 Days in Mariupol” and the film “2000 Meters to Andriivka”), as well as director and producer Craig Reno, the brother of journalist Brent Reno, who was killed in Ukraine.
