Renault to produce drones for Ukraine

Renault considers manufacturing drones in Ukraine — Bloomberg

Automaker Renault has signed an agreement with a French defense company to produce drones for Ukraine.

Renault said it would work with Turgis Gaillard to produce drones at two of its plants, but declined to comment on the contract’s value or the number of drones to be made.

The contract was signed after the French government, in June, asked automotive and defense companies to collaborate on drone production.

The French automaker has previously produced defense equipment, including tanks used in two world wars.

Both the company and the director declined to specify whether the drones would be used for offensive, defensive, or surveillance purposes. Renault also said the drone production locations have not yet been confirmed.

Turgis Gaillard is a French defense company founded in 2011. Among its products is a 20-meter medium-altitude, long-endurance drone called AAROK, which can carry almost three tons of fuel, weapons, or equipment.
