This year, on May 8, the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, Ukraine will honor the memory of everyone who fought against Nazism and all the victims of World War II.
Ukrainians on the side of the anti-Hitler coalition made a significant contribution to the victory over Nazism and Hitler’s allies. The price of this contribution was the extraordinary losses between 1939 and 1945 among Ukrainians and other peoples living on the territory of Ukraine. More than eight million people died then.
We emphasize that no country can claim an exclusive role in the victory over Nazism. The victory is the result of the titanic efforts of dozens of states and hundreds of peoples.
Since 2014, the poppy of remembrance has been the symbol of the Second World War in Ukraine and Europe.
