Lithuania will not deport Ukrainian men of conscription age but may deny permanent residence to those who evade military service.
This was announced by the country’s Prime Minister, Ingrida Shimonite, in an interview with the Financial Times.
“We will not arrange deportations or look for Ukrainian men in the country because that would be illegal,” Shimonite said.
At the same time, she said Lithuania is ready to send its soldiers to Ukraine on a training mission. Lithuanian parliament has already given permission, but Kiev has not asked for it yet, she added.
