Famous American producer creates a podcast about the role of Ukrainian culture during the war

American producer David Junk explores the unique phenomenon of the renaissance of Ukrainian culture during the war. It highlights it in his own author’s podcast called Art During Wartime. In his project, he talks to prominent figures who play an essential role in developing art during conflict.

Among the first guests of the podcast were art curator Katya Taylor, opera singer Volodymyr Shchuk, photographer Serhiy Melnychenko, Dovbush actor Luzher Tversky, founder of the Leontovych Institute Tina Peresunko, and film producer Daniel Bilak.

Before that, Junk was president of Universal Music East Europe and collaborated with world stars such as Elton John, Sting, Metallica, and U2. In Ukraine, he launched a branch of Universal Music and served as the head of the Bang & Olufsen store chain in the United States.

David Junk visited Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion, visiting Borodyanka and Bucha. This visit was a turning point in his life. Afterward, he decided to explore the impact of the war on Ukrainian culture and share it with his fellow Americans.

The podcast’s producer, Olya Dibrova, said that episodes of Art During Wartime have already been filmed with rapper Otoy, stand-up comedian Anton Tymoshenko, and singer Tumazar.
