The opening ceremony of the 74th Berlin International Film Festival will take place on February 15 at the Berlinale Palast. The event will be attended by Federal Government for Culture and Media representatives, the Mayor of Berlin, Jury President Lupita Nyong’o, and the Berlinale management.
This year’s honored guests include international jury member Oksana Zabuzhko and acclaimed Ukrainian director Serhiy Loznitsa. The red carpet will also feature members of the Encounters jury, the GWFF jury for Best First Feature, the Berlinale Documentary Award, and Generation International.
The final part of the opening ceremony will be the world premiere of the historical drama Small Things Like These by director Tim Milance, which is participating in the festival’s main competition.
The festival, which runs from February 15 to 25, will feature films by three Ukrainian directors. Among them is the world premiere of Roman Bondarchuk’s feature-length film The Editorial Office, shot before the war and set in Germany after the Russian invasion.
In addition, the Forum program will feature the premiere of Peaceful People by Oksana Karpovych, and Svitlana Lishchynska will present her film A Little Alien in the Panorama Document program. The European Film Market will feature 10 Ukrainian producers.
