Children from Ukraine have helped create a new documentary film, “Joy of Joys,” by British director Jonathan Glazer. The film will be presented at the 64th New York Film Festival.
Jonathan Glazer is a British director, screenwriter and music video maker. “Joy of Joys” is Glazer’s first film after the film “The Zone of Interest”. It won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
The authors call “Joy of Joys” a film created by children and for children. The documentary will show how they worked on the charity album HELP(2) from the War Child Records label. The compositions were created to help children living in conflict zones. The recording itself was made at London’s Abbey Road studio with the participation of famous musicians.
For the filming, the director gave digital cameras to schoolchildren in London and invited them to show how the album was made. Children from Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine and Yemen also received cameras to tell their own experiences through video.
