At an extraordinary Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) congress, renowned football coach and former professional football player Andriy Shevchenko was elected as the organization’s new president.
Shevchenko was the only candidate for this position, and his candidacy received the full support of all UAF permanent members, as he meets all the requirements and criteria necessary for this role.
During his successful career on the football field from 1994 to 2012, Shevchenko was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine (2003) and became a Hero of Ukraine (2004). After playing, he coached, including leading the Ukrainian national team. In September 2023, Shevchenko joined the advisory team of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a freelance advisor.
