All new buildings in Ukraine will be checked for accessibility

The Ukrainian government has adopted a resolution requiring mandatory digital verification of all new construction projects to ensure compliance with inclusivity standards. From now on, each project will be checked for accessibility in the Unified State Electronic System in the Field of Construction (USESFC). This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The Ministry notes that this decision will make new buildings accessible to all categories of the population.

How will the digital checklist work?

The system will operate on the principle of a mandatory digital checklist:

  • Who fills it out: Architects, designers, and expert organizations.
  • Purpose: When uploading a project to the EDESSB, specialists must confirm that the project complies with all building standards for inclusivity.

This digital control ensures that the project takes into account the needs of:

  • people with disabilities,
  • parents with strollers,
  • elderly people,
  • pregnant women.

It is noted that the checklist will ensure digital control over compliance with accessibility standards at all stages — from the first drawings to the commissioning of the facility.
