On June 14th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump during which they discussed resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict and future international assistance for Ukraine. Zelenskyy wished Trump a happy birthday and expressed gratitude to the United States for providing armaments, including Javelin systems and Patriot air defense systems.
They also discussed opportunities to accelerate the peace process. At the same time, Zelenskyy shared an update on the current situation on the battlefield and the strengthening of Ukraine’s defense forces. Both parties agreed to continue their dialogue at the upcoming G7 Summit, hosted in the French resort of Évian from June 15-17, with additional leaders from several Arab nations also invited.
French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the significance of Zelenskyy’s participation in reinstating the “Group of Seven” consensus on matters supporting Ukraine and advancing the negotiation process.
