Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska, who was supposed to play against world number two Coco Gauff for a place in the 1/8 finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati (USA), decided to withdraw from the match two hours before the game.
“For the last few days, I have been taking heavy antibiotics, which caused severe intoxication. I considered not playing the previous match, but I hoped it would pass. However, under stress, my pulse rises and I feel very weak,” the tennis player said.
According to Yastremska, she was already feeling very unwell in the last match.
At the time of her withdrawal, the athlete had reached the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in the American city of Cincinnati with a prize fund of over $5 million.
