Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh has set a new world record in the women’s high jump, clearing 2.10 meters.
Maguchikh took the world record at the Diamond League in Paris, where the Ukrainian competed with Australian Nicola Olislagers.
Both athletes cleared the bar by 2.01 meters on their second attempt. After that, Olislagers failed three times at 2.03 meters, but Maguchikh took it on the second attempt.
After winning, Maguchikh raised the bar to 2.07 meters and cleared it again on her second attempt, with enough clearance to set the Ukrainian record. She then raised the bar to 2.10 meters – one centimeter higher than the world record set by Stefka Kostadinova at the 1987 World Championships – and took it on her first attempt.
