The US Department of Homeland Security has announced the extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for refugees from Ukraine for 18 months beyond the expiration of their current protection on April 19, 2025.
This decision will allow approximately 103,700 Ukrainians who already enjoy this status to legally reside and work in the United States.
It is noted that this decision was made due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, which has caused a humanitarian catastrophe and made it impossible for Ukrainians to safely return home.
Citizens of Ukraine with TPS status in the United States must re-register to extend this status.
It is noted that detailed information on the registration procedure will be published shortly.
It is important to note that all previous work authorization documents will be automatically extended for 12 months.
