US Approves Sale of JDAM ER to Ukraine for $373.6 Million

Ukraine to be represented at the US Independence Day celebration in Washington, DC

The Boeing Corporation will serve as the primary contractor under the contract to supply Ukraine with JDAM ER precision-guided munitions. This decision is part of Washington’s initiative to enhance Ukraine’s Air Force’s defense capabilities. JDAM ER’s technical characteristics include GPS-guided conversion of standard aerial bombs into guided munitions with folding wings, enabling a glide range of 70-80 kilometers. This facilitates striking targets beyond the reach of most medium-range air defense systems. Employing these munitions will enable precision strikes against logistical hubs, command centers, and depots with minimal deviation from the target. Notably, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed readiness in April 2026 to procure air defense systems and other weaponry from the US, for $30 to $50 billion. Earlier, in May 2025, US President Donald Trump, during his second term, first agreed to deliver arms to Ukraine valued at over $50 million.
