The head of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC), Ruslan Magomedov, aims to develop the stock market so that by the end of his term (by the end of February 2027), the country will have at least five well-known issuers of securities. Ukrposhta may become one of them.
He explained that the market development requires domestic government bonds (OVDPs) and other financial instruments.
He suggests that the development may start not with an IPO (initial public offering) but with an SPO (secondary public offering). As an example of a potential candidate for an SPO, he mentioned Ukrposhta, the state postal service, with whose CEO Igor Smelyansky is already discussing this possibility.
He believes that Ukrainians have an “appetite for investment” and that pension funds need investment options other than government bonds and bank deposits.
