After September 30 this year, Ukrainians who are currently in Germany will need to register their vehicles there, and upon returning to Ukraine, they will need to obtain new certificates and license plates.
“The German side is sympathetic to the situation and is determined to provide Ukrainians with the opportunity to take advantage of a special simplified procedure for registering their vehicles,” the CCC said.
Separately, the institution informed that since Ukrainians can temporarily come to Ukraine in their own vehicles or return to their homeland for permanent residence, the State Customs Service of Ukraine has posted information on the procedure and conditions for moving vehicles across the customs border of Ukraine, which is available here.
It is noted that owners of vehicles with Ukrainian registration who have registered them with the relevant German authorities and have not deregistered them at the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs due to traveling abroad may obtain new Ukrainian registration certificates and license plates.
Upon returning the vehicle to Ukraine, its owners or their authorized representatives must apply to any service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with an application for a new registration certificate and license plates, pay the fees for re-registration, reimbursement of the cost of registration documents and license plates.
