Ukrainians sold a record amount of cash currency in April

The number of billionaires in Ukraine has increased - Forbes

The NBU data evidence that in April 2025, the volume of foreign currency purchases by the Ukrainian population exceeded sales by $189.51 million, the lowest figure since August 2023.

Amid the hryvnia’s depreciation, demand for foreign currency declined while sales volumes increased. Ukrainians bought $1.73 billion worth of cash currency and sold $1.54 billion, a record since the start of the full-scale war. Non-cash currency was purchased for $339 million and sold for $337.3 million.

Since the beginning of 2025, the population’s foreign currency purchases have exceeded sales by $3.35 billion. The increase in foreign currency sales may be due to changes in exchange rate expectations and the country’s economic situation.
