Ukrainians increase foreign currency deposits and withdraw hryvnia from banks

Fitch upgraded the ratings of Ukrainian banks

The press service of the Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF) reported that in January 2025, Ukrainians’ hryvnia bank deposits, including individual entrepreneurs, decreased by UAH 15.9 billion to UAH 883.6 billion.

Instead, foreign currency deposits increased by UAH 2 billion in equivalent, reaching UAH 494.7 billion. The Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF) released these data.

As of February 1, the total bank deposits amounted to UAH 1.37 trillion.

Individual entrepreneurs account for 3.2% of depositors, but they own 11.1% of all bank deposits, amounting to UAH 152.7 billion.

Most funds are concentrated in large deposits: 49.7% of the total amount is accounted for by deposits over UAH 600,000. At the same time, most Ukrainians (57.4% of total depositors) have deposits in the range of UAH 10-200,000.
