In Dubai (UAE), Ukrainian Anna Bondar won the nomination for “Best Traditional Dress” at the annual Style Stakes competition held during the Dubai World Cup 2024.
It is noted that the races, which took place this year for the twenty-eighth time, often serve as one of the largest fashion shows in Dubai, attended by celebrities, influencers, and royal family members. Women can wear dresses with the most exquisite hats, while men come in perfectly tailored and matching suits.
The World Cup also has a special area where the annual Style Stakes competition is held on race day, where you can win prizes of up to AED 200 thousand. Style Stakes participants compete for prizes in the following categories: “Best Women’s Outfit,” “Best Men’s Outfit,” “Best Couple’s Outfit,” “Most Creative Hat,” and “Best Traditional/National Outfit.”
This year, there was a noticeable trend toward monochromatic colors, with many women moving away from the usual summer prints and opting for bold, monotone looks. Some chose bright shades, while others chose softer pastel colors. A separate nomination was dedicated to the best national costume that demonstrates the country’s cultural heritage. Ukrainian Anna Bondar won in this category.
Ms. Bondar participated in three categories: “Best Traditional Costume,” “Best Hat,” and “Best Look.” She won in the traditional costume category.
Ms. Bondar said that her mission was to remind the world about Ukraine at a major event that brought together more than 40,000 people from different countries and showcased Ukrainian cultural heritage.
