As of December 31, 2023, the number of articles in the Ukrainian Wikipedia exceeded 1.3 million, making it the 14th largest worldwide.
This was announced by Yuriy Perohanych, co-founder of the NGO Wikimedia Ukraine. According to him, an article was edited on the Ukrainian Wikipedia at least every 9.2 seconds last year.
At the end of the year, 51 editors had the status of administrator on Ukrainian Wikipedia. Patrollers – 567 (they mark individual edits and entire articles as checked) – performed 155 thousand patrols during the year.
On average, Ukrainian Wikipedia creates 231 articles daily.
“In terms of the number of articles, Ukrainian Wikipedia ranks 14th in the world among all language versions of Wikipedia,” said Perohanych.
Interestingly, the number of articles on the Ukrainian Wiki drops in the summer and increases during exams. The peak views were recorded in March (115.9 million) and May (114.0 million).
More Wiki users are interested in the geography, history, culture, and arts of Ukraine, architecture, museums, military, and politics.
“According to an analysis of the list of the 2000 most popular articles last year, 80 of the 150 most popular articles are about Ukraine, which is more than half,” said Perohanych.
