Ukrainian veterans to take part in the most prestigious marathon in Paris

Ukrainian veterans and players of the Titans-Lviv basketball club will take part in the most prestigious marathon in Paris. One of the most prestigious races in the world, the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris, will take place in the French capital on April 12. Ukraine will be represented at the international sporting event by veterans who will complete the marathon distance.

It is noted that the Ukrainian team includes veterans Oles Protsiv and Volodymyr Saveliyev, UNBROKEN center mentor Pavlo Kozak, miner from Pokrovsk Ivan Batrak, who was injured during a “fly-in” to his own house, as well as Bohdan Koshulab and Andriy Tarasyuk. All of them are players of the Titans-Lviv basketball club and recently won silver medals at the largest wheelchair basketball tournament, the Titans Cup. They were also joined by veteran Mykhailo Varvarych.

A special feature of the Ukrainian participation will be that the veterans will overcome the distance in unique wooden wheelchairs of their own design. The wooden chairs were made by the participants themselves as part of a project based on the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center.

According to Pavlo Kozak, the Ukrainian veterans plan to overcome distances from 10 to 21 kilometers. The implementation of this initiative was made possible by the support of French engineer Paul de Livron, the founder and developer of Apollo Wooden Wheelchairs, who led the creation of the chairs and taught veterans how to use them.

The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris traditionally brings together thousands of participants from all over the world, and its route passes through the historic center of Paris.
