Ukrainian track and field athlete Marina Bekh-Romanchuk has been disqualified after testing positive for doping.
This was reported by the independent organization for the fight against doping in athletics (AIU). On May 15 this year, Bekh-Romanchuk was temporarily suspended from competition due to a failed doping test for testosterone. The doping test itself was taken in December 2024.
The athlete’s disqualification period will begin on May 15, 2025. Thus, the Ukrainian will be able to return to competition in May 2029.
The Ukrainian disagrees with the AIU’s decision. On her Instagram, she stated that she refused to sign any documents requiring her to admit guilt.
Marina Bekh-Romanchuk is a participant in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympics. The jumper became European champion in 2021 and 2022, and in 2019 and 2023 she won silver at the World Athletics Championships.
