Ukrainian sportswoman becomes world champion in freediving

Ukrainian freediver Natalia Zharkova won the CWT (Constant Weight Diving) event at the CMAS World Championships in Mytikas, Greece.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Kharkiv resident dived to a depth of 113 meters, setting a new national record for Ukraine and beating her closest rival by four meters, Ukrinform reports.

The depth of the Ukrainian woman’s record dive is comparable to the height of the capital’s skyscrapers: for example, it is higher than the building of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine (106 m) and only slightly lower than the 27-story 101 Tower (116 m).

Note that the world championship will last until September 17.
