A 21-year-old refugee from Ukraine, Kateryna Tovmash, was shot dead in the US. Her ex-boyfriend is suspected of the murder.
The girl’s brother, Mykhailo, reported the death on social media. According to him, 25-year-old American Caleb Hayden Fosno arrived at Kateryna’s house in North Carolina from Ohio and burst inside, threatening her with a firearm.
Kateryna herself, her younger siblings, and her new boyfriend were in the house. According to Mykhailo, “at about 7 a.m. her ex-boyfriend, a man who had driven seven hours from Ohio, burst into her apartment where she was looking after our younger siblings. He forced one of our siblings to wake her up and then shot her in bed, killing her. He also shot her.”
He then left the crime scene but was soon arrested. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Kateryna Tovmash lived in the United States for about two years. After the outbreak of full-scale war, she moved from Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region.
