Ukrainian photographer Yulia Kochetova's project wins World Press Photo 2024

The international competition World Press Photo 2024 has announced the winners, including Ukrainian photojournalist Yulia Kochetova. Her project “War is personal” won the Open Format Award in the Open Format category.

Kochetova’s work is an interactive page that combines photographs, correspondence, drawings, and audio. The music for the project was created by Ukrainian DJ Daria Kolomyets, and the illustrations were created by Oleksandr Komiakhov. Kochetova combined photojournalism with the personal documentary style of a diary to show the world what it’s like to live with war as an everyday reality. You can view her project here.

World Press Photo is a competition for all professional photographers working in the field of photojournalism or documentary photography. The winners are determined every year: first at the regional and then at the global level.
