Ukrainian photographer Konstantin Liberov receives French award for war correspondents

On October 11-12, the French city of Bayeux hosted the Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award, recognizing the merits of war correspondents. Ukrainian photographer Kostyantyn Liberov was one of the winners.

He won in the Photo category based on an open audience vote with a series of works titled “War in Ukraine” Pain, Distress, and Hope.” The jury awarded him 2nd place in this category.

The public and the jury singled out his photo of a soldier of the 24th Mechanized Brigade in a trench at a cemetery in Donetsk Oblast.

This year’s awardees also included correspondents covering the Gaza Strip events.

The Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award was established in 1994 in the French city of Bayeux in honor of the 50th anniversary of the landing of Allied troops in Normandy during World War II. Since then, it has been awarded to representatives of the world’s leading global media outlets, such as the Associated Press, Reuters, BBC, CNN, Le Monde, and others.
