The State Statistics Service reported that in January 2025, Ukraine exported goods worth $3.18 billion, which is 11.5% less than in January 2024. At the same time, imports increased by 8.2% to $5.5 billion.
The negative balance of foreign trade in the first month of the year reached $2.33 billion, compared to $1.5 billion last year. The import-export coverage ratio decreased to 0.58 (from 0.71 a year ago).
Electrical machinery (+13.0 %) was among the categories whose exports grew. At the same time, Ukraine reduced the supply of ferrous metals by 20.2%, cereals by 17.4%, and fats and oils by 8.5%.
Imports grew mainly due to electric machines (+80.9%) and energy resources, particularly oil and its products (+20.7%).
