The Ukrainian documentary The Porcelain War won the Grand Prix at the 40th annual Sundance Film Festival in the United States.
The festival jury praised the film as “the highest aspiration for good” that opposes aggression. The film, created in cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, won the main prize in the Best Documentary category.
The plot tells the story of Ukrainian artists Slava, Ania, and Andriy, who chose to stay in the country during the war and join the fight with their people. The Porcelain War embodies the passion and struggle that only artists can restore in a world crumbling around them.
The project was directed by American filmmaker Brendan Bellomo and Kharkiv-based artist and former soldier Slava Leontiev, who worked with his wife to create the porcelain sculptures featured in the film.
