During the 79th Cannes Film Festival, Ukrainian director Zhanna Ozirna received the international Build Your Dream Award for her debut film “Honeymoon”.
A total of 15 of the best foreign debut films released in French theaters over the past year were in the running for the award.
The agency notes: The Build Your Dream Award is a new international award established by BYD in collaboration with Mediawan to support and fund young filmmakers.
Zhanna Ozirna’s film “Honeymoon” is a romantic thriller. In the story, a young married couple spends their first night in a new apartment in a small town near Kyiv after a party with friends. At dawn, the characters’ lives change dramatically: Russian invaders appear outside their building. Taras and Olya find themselves trapped in their own apartment — without electricity, water, or communication. Over the course of five days, everything superfluous disappears between them, leaving only the truth about themselves and genuine intimacy.
