Author Andriy Kurkov’s book *Three Years in the Fire: The Destruction of Ukraine*, which deals with the Russian-Ukrainian war, has been named a finalist for the 2026 George Orwell Prize. The book is nominated for the award in the “Political Writing” category alongside seven other publications by various authors.
“Three Years in the Fire: The Destruction of Ukraine” was published by Open Borders Press and chronicles the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The jury noted that the volume includes “Trump’s return to the White House and his attempt to humiliate Zelenskyy in the Oval Office in late February 2025.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 25, 2026, at the Bloomsbury Theatre.
