Ukraine will export electricity to neighboring countries

Ukraine plans to resume electricity exports to neighboring countries on August 25.

Ukrenergo explains that consumption is decreasing due to the heat wave, and the repair of another nuclear power unit has added capacity to the power grid, which has a surplus during the daytime, when solar power plants are operating.

To avoid accidents, the amount of energy produced at any given moment must match the amount consumed. There are two ways to do this:

  • limit the generation of Ukrainian solar power plants;
  • resume electricity exports during daytime hours.
