Ukraine reaches pre-war export volumes by sea in January

In January of this year, Ukraine reached pre-war exports by sea thanks to the efficient operation of the national sea corridor. The country’s total exports are already approaching the levels that existed before the start of full-scale aggression.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal. The new grain corridor has already served more than 660 ships, which delivered about 20 million tons of cargo to 32 countries. It is noted that 70% of these cargoes are Ukrainian agricultural products.

“In January, we reached the previous pre-war level of exports by sea, and the total volume of exports is approaching the indicators before the full-scale aggression,” Shmyhal said.

The Ministry of Economy emphasizes that exporters exported 12 million tons of goods in January, which is only 2 million tons less than in January 2022. Of this amount, 8.7 million tons were delivered by sea.

Over the past month, Ukraine’s total exports in monetary terms amounted to $3.1 billion, with almost $1.9 billion in maritime exports. The effective throughput of the Ukrainian sea corridor was, in fact, ensured by the Naval and Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the Security Service of Ukraine, which systematically eliminated and neutralized Russian vessels in the Black Sea.
