On January 16, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a historic agreement on a 100-year partnership to deepen security ties and strengthen partnership for future generations.
This is stated on the websites of the Office of the President and the British Government.
The main provisions of the agreement include:
- deepening defense cooperation;
- strengthening security and reaching consensus on Ukraine’s membership in NATO;
- building a partnership in maritime security;
- strengthening economic and trade cooperation;
- strengthening cooperation in the field of energy, climate, and transition to clean energy;
- strengthening cooperation in the field of justice and prosecution;
- countering foreign information manipulation and interference;
- strengthening positions as leaders in science, technology, and innovation;
- cooperation in socio-cultural areas such as human rights, gender equality, social integration, social protection, etc;
- cooperation on migration issues.
The OP added that under this agreement, the UK will expand its contribution to training specialists for Ukrainian combat aviation and help supply aircraft in service with NATO member states. It also provides for increased cooperation in the field of long-range weapons and investment in Ukrainian defense production, including drones and artillery.
The document envisages strengthening cooperation within the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) military grouping.
In addition, the document enshrines a partnership in maritime security and the creation of special joint flotillas, particularly to strengthen security in the Baltic, Black, and Azov Seas.
The parties will also cooperate in culture, education, science, and technology, exchanging experience in artificial intelligence and drones. In addition, there will be cooperation for at least 100 schools in Ukraine and special programs for British and Ukrainian universities.
After the war ends, the countries will work to remove barriers for Ukrainians and Britons to travel.
