Two Ukrainian films created with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine will take part in the goEast Film Festival in Wiesbaden (Germany).
In particular, the film “Oxygen Station” will be presented. The film is based on biographical events from the life of Mustafa Dzhemilev and depicts the events of the summer of 1980.
“The plot: Mustafa Dzhemilev is serving a four-year exile in the Yakut village of Zyryanka, where he works at an oxygen station. The events take place after Mustafa’s 300-day hunger strike, which made him famous all over the world. The exile in Zyryanka is just one of a series of trials for the fighter for the rights of the Crimean Tatar people, but it could be the last one…”, – the State Film Agency notes.
The film’s director: Ivan Tymchenko, producer: Svitlana Solovyova. The film was created in co-production between Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency and the Státní fond kinematografie.
The German premiere of the film will take place in the main competition program. The film will be screened on April 28 and 29.
In addition, the film Stepne by Maryna Vroda will also participate in the main competition program. The screenings will take place on April 26 and 27. The film tells the story of a few days in the life of an elderly man who comes to the Ukrainian village of Stepne to take care of his dying mother.
The film was produced by VRODASTUDIO with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency.
The festival will also feature 15 other Ukrainian films.
The goEast Film Festival will take place in Wiesbaden from April 24 to 30, 2024.
