The first Ukrainian restaurant opened in Amsterdam, with dishes prepared and served by refugees from Ukraine. The establishment’s main goal is to introduce visitors to Ukrainian cuisine and create a cozy place for gatherings and master classes. Guests can also purchase works by Ukrainian artists and learn more about Ukrainian culture.
One of the restaurant’s founders is Sjurd Warmerdam, a former Dutch MP from the D66 party. He said the restaurant will operate “in test mode” for two months. If everything goes well, they will continue to operate.
The Embassy of Ukraine in the Netherlands reported that the Ukrainian restaurant operates in the building of the Alex+Pinard restaurant, which actively promotes the integration and labor participation of Ukrainians in the Netherlands. Guests are offered to taste Ukrainian cuisine and a wide range of drinks from Ukrainian, Central, and Eastern European breweries and wineries. The menu offers a large selection of dishes and snacks that put a modern twist on traditional Ukrainian recipes.
