The average salary in Ukraine decreased by 9.5%

Every third Ukrainian lives in poverty - World Bank

The average salary in Ukraine in January 2026 was 27,975 UAH, 9.5% lower than in December 2025. This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service.

The level of remuneration varies significantly by region. The highest wealth is demonstrated by residents of the capital region. In contrast, in some regions, the indicators do not reach 20 thousand hryvnias.

Leaders in terms of salary levels:

  • Kyiv city: 43,865 UAH.
  • Kyiv region: 28,598 UAH.

The lowest indicators:

  • Kirovohrad region: 19,996 UAH.
  • Chernivtsi region: 19,984 UAH.

The IT and telecommunications sector confidently maintains its leadership, surpassing the lowest-paid sectors by more than four times.

  • Highest pay: Information and telecommunications — UAH 76,905
  • Lowest pay: Arts, sports, entertainment, and recreation — UAH 17,828

As of February 1, 2026, the total amount of wage arrears in Ukraine is UAH 3.4 billion.
