Switzerland will provide 600,000 Swiss francs (626,000 euros) to restore the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra following Russian shelling. According to Swiss government spokesman Jacques Gerbet, the funds will be channeled through UNESCO to preserve “this unique cultural heritage site.”
During his visit to Kyiv, the delegate held meetings with Ukrainian Culture Minister Tetyana Berezhna and UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enani.
In turn, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga welcomed Switzerland’s decision to allocate funds to preserve the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important spiritual and cultural monuments in Ukraine.
