Sundance, the leading independent film festival in the United States, has shown the first footage of the new film by Oscar-winning Ukrainian director Mstislav Chernov, 2000 meters to Andriivka. The film tells the story of the heroism of the Ukrainian soldiers of the Third Assault Brigade and the liberation of the village of Andriivka near Bakhmut.
Filming began in September 2023 and took almost a year and a half. In addition to Chernov, the film was produced by photographer Oleksandr Babenko and producers Michelle Mizner and Rainey Aronson-Rath.
Mizner was also in charge of editing. The music for the film was composed by Two-time Grammy Award-winning composer and music producer Sam Slater (Chornobyl, The Joker).
The film’s world premiere will take place on January 23, the day of the festival.
Sundance will run until February 2. The Sundance 2025 program includes 87 feature films from 33 countries and 6 short films, selected from a record number of applications – more than 15 thousand.
