Ukrainian writer, translator, and publicist Sofia Andrukhovych and translator Nils Gåkansson have won the Stockholm Cultural Center and City Theater International Literary Prize.
The prize was awarded to the first volume of the novel “Amadoka”, published in Sweden in two parts by Albert Bonniers Förlag: Amadoka I (2024) and Amadoka II (2025). The cover design of the Swedish edition was created by Trine + Kim designstudio.

As the jury of the prize noted, the Ukrainian writer “takes on an impressive task – to show the painful modern history of Ukraine through people, their fragmented and unreliable memories and fantastic stories”.
According to the author, this award is of great importance because it draws attention to Ukraine — to its language, literature, and living culture, which continue to exist, are spoken, and remain visible even in difficult times.
