Ukrainian schoolchildren will undergo basic military training in high school in the future. The relevant provision is contained in the draft law on improving the initial general military training system, which has been registered in parliament.
This draft law aims to regulate the current laws of Ukraine regarding the definition of the concept of a training system that is carried out through the study of the subject “Defense of Ukraine.”
The initial general military training of schoolchildren is intended to form citizens’ primary general military knowledge and unique competencies in defense awareness to familiarize citizens with the duty of armed defense of Ukraine.
Suppose the draft law is adopted by the MPs. In that case, it should promote the development of basic general military training to prepare Ukrainian citizens for national resistance.
The Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports recommended that the Verkhovna Rada approve the draft law on improving the initial general military training system as a basis.
